Art pieces evaluation

Setdart makes free evaluations when the object / purpose of these is the auction of the pieces. In the event that a specific piece requires certifications from external experts, the expenses incurred will be / derived will be borne by the transferor-seller (after consultation and consent). If you need an appraisal or expertization for distribution of inheritances, judicial matters, etc., Setdart also makes this service available to you with the relevant charges.

The format of the photographs must be in .jpg. Measurements must be around 800 × 600 pixels and the maximum weight or size allowed is 1 Mbyte for each one. These parameters will be enough for us to appreciate the details of the piece and to be able to correctly receive your email.
Different images will be necessary: general of the piece, detail of the signature if it exists and in the case of painting, image of the back of the canvas. The most practical option to send us your e-mail is to fill in the appraisal form by filling in all the fields that are requested.

Here’s a practical guide to those criteria and their classification:

If you bring the piece to our room, the valuation will depend on whether the expert in that area is at the moment. You can either send images by e-mail or whatsapp or our experts visit you at your home. We usually carry out the assessment in less than a week.

No, the pieces that enter the auction must meet the characteristics of quality, age, originality, etc. that Setdart selects/studies and values according to the profile of our buyer clients. All the pieces are reviewed/have to be physically reviewed before entering the auction to verify the data provided and their characteristics.

Sell with Setdart

Setdart makes free evaluations when the objective is the auction. In the case of one piece requires certifications from external experts, the costs incurred will be borne by the seller-assignor. If you need an appraisal or expertization for distribution of inheritances, judicial matters, etc., Setdart also makes this service available to you with the relevant charges.

When the lots are accepted for auction, we photograph and catalog them. This process usually takes between four and seven days. Each piece is displayed on the website between seven and ten days so that users make their bids until the auction period is over.

When a lot is awarded, Setdart sends the quotation to the successful tenderer-buyer who must settle it within seven days. Once charged, Setdart makes the payment one month later by bank transfer.

Selling at Setdart Auction house offers you many advantages. Setdart does daily auctions and this implies great agility and speed in the process. When each piece is in auction you can follow the process directly through our website and this allows you to be informed at all times of how the auction unfolds. The advantages over direct selling are clear because you access a much wider’s portfolio of prospective buyers and this allows you to get a much more favorable price.

Specified commission in the contract signed between the assignor-seller and Setdart is the charge that seller must pay to Setdart for the sale of a lot. In the case of a part that has generated special restoration costs, certification of authenticity by an expert external to Setdart, storage or special packaging, transport, etc., these will be borne by the assignor-seller

As already concluded in the Terms of Sale, most pieces in auction have a reserve price, a confidential minimum price agreed between assignor-seller and Setdart. If at the end of the auction the last bid does not reach this reserve price, the lot is not awarded and is therefore not sold. Before the auction ends, the assignor-seller may modify the reserve price in order to approach the last existing offer. The agreed booking price is moveable. In Setdart also has free price lots, which means that there is no reserve price and is therefore sold whenever there is a bid, whatever the value of the bid.

Each lot is marked with a low estimate and a high estimate, which represents the opinion of Setdart’s experts about the range at which a lot may be sold at auction. Estimates are based on examining the lot or item and comparing market prices for comparable pieces. These estimates provide buyers with a prior indication of value and are generally a basis for setting the reserve price. The buyer can be assured that if they meet or exceed the low estimate they have reached the minimum or reserve price of the lot but this it does not mean that the reserve price is equal to the low estimate as the reserve price may be lower.

During the last hour of the auction process for each lot, Setdart’s bidding system indicates in the bid history if the last offer has not reached the reserve price set with the acronym NAPR (Not Reached Reserve Price), inviting the Bidders to continue bidding if they wish to win that lot. Only in this case, the system will admit that the same bidder exceeds his last offer in order to reach the reserve price and win the lot. Once the duration of the auction is over, when the stopwatch indicates “This auction is over”, it will be immediately informed whether or not the lot has been awarded.

Buy in Setdart

Registering as a user of Setdart.com is completely free. The only cost derived from participating in any auction is if you award a lot.

Once the lot has been awarded, a quote will be sent to you indicating the auction price and additional costs. An 18% commission is added to the auction price of the piece. If you need transportation, it will also be budgeted depending on the nature of the lot and the destination. Transporting costs are also subject to VAT.

Once the lost has been settled, Setdart will proceed to carry out the arrangements for packaging and transporting the piece. The average delivery time is between seven and ten days. This period may vary depending on the availability of the part in our facilities, if it must be collected at the place of deposit or if the part requires special packaging or adjustments. If the client requests a group of lots to lower transport costs, we will wait to receive the last lot to make the shipment, although the payment deadlines will have to meet.

To settle your lots, you can pay with a credit/debit card on our website through our secure online payment platform. In this case the maximum is 10,000€, so if your lot is worth more, you must repeat the operation until you reach the full amount.

You also have the option to pay in cash at one of our offices in Barcelona, Madrid or Valencia. We recommend you to call us before in order to have your piece ready. In this case, you should bear in mind that we do not accept American Express payments. Moreover, we will accept cash up to a maximum of 1,000€ and 10,000€ if you are a foreigner.

In any case, a lot is not considered awarded unless the last bidder receives the email confirming it.

Various

There is no limit to the number of lots to be put up for auction. You can offer all the pieces that you want to auction with us.

Setdart is an auction web portal for unique and valuable items. For this reason, we have set a minimum price (reserve price) that must be € 300 for all lots. If you want to offer objects of lesser value, our experts can consider the option of grouping them and auctioning them as a single lot.

If the bidder with the winning bid does not pay the lot in the established time, Setdart will start the claim process. If, even after the claim process, the payment is not made, we will offer you the possibility of re-offering your lot at auction after a while.

If a reserve price is not reached at the end of the auction, the lot will not be awarded. It is not possible to sell the lot for the highest bid after the auction has ended. However, you can offer the lot again at auction with a reserve price and lower estimate pending review by the expert to put it up for auction again after a reasonable time (2-3 months)

If your lot has not been awarded at auction, it will automatically go to Direct Sale for approximately one week so that bidders for your lot or potential interested parties have another way to get hold of the piece.

The results of our auctions are listed on our website. If you are registered, in your “My Setdart” profile you will be able to see the results of the lots for which you have bid or put up for auction. Anyway, we will send you an email to the email with which you are registered informing you of everything at all times.

Once you make a payment for an item won at auction, you should receive an email confirmation of the transaction. Please note that bank transfers can take up to 48 hours to be reflected in our systems. If you have any specific questions about your purchase, please email [email protected] or phone 932.463.241
